1 Timothy 4:12 – Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. The Youth at Third Avenue Missionary Baptist Church (TAMBC) have been challenged to present their bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is their reasonable service. They are first taught that the only way to God the Father is through His Son Jesus Christ.Through any of the Youth Ministries of our church, the young people are reassured of their salvation so that they can boldly serve on God’s program. Monday nights are great nights to be at TAMBC, especially for the youth of today. We start at 6:30PM with voice training, and teaching young people how to worship God through singing in out “Jesus Young People” (JYP) choir rehearsal. The next phase of our worship is the Monday night Youth Meetings. Youth Ushers meet on the 2nd and 4th Monday, while other youth are participating in different activities. These services are from 7:30PM to 8:30 PM. In our Youth Ministry, we have structured Bible lessons, designed and made applicable for all youth. The youth are divided by age in the following groups:
- Esther’s Queenettes (Girls ages 3 – 9)
- Boys to Men (Boys ages 3 – 9)
- Lydia’s Ladies (Girls ages 10 – 19)
- Nehemiah’s Troop (Boys ages 10 – 19)
Our youth have planned yearly agendas. They lead in our Annual Black History, Easter and Christmas Programs; Summer Youth Extravaganzas on Friday Nights; skating, bowling, visiting nursing homes, hospitals, elderly members and going out with the Evangelism Team, are only a few of the activities scheduled. Their exciting Youth Annual Day is the 2nd Sunday in September and they serve in several leadership areas during our church service every 5th Sunday. The young men lead our devotion; the JYP choir praise God through songs and the Youth Ushers serve. The Youth impact every area of service except preaching, which is left to God’s called awesome Pastor Gaylon Keith Wright.
Our Youth Department is under the leadership of Sis. Felicia Wright.
