Pastor Gaylon & Sis. Felicia Wright

Pastor Gaylon Keith Wright was born January 22, 1969 to the proud parents of Rev. Marvin Ray Wright (deceased) and Johnnie Mae Wright. He is the middle son of two brothers. Pastor Wright is a proud graduate of the 1987 class of Wilmer Hutchins High School and a graduate of Jarvis Christian College, attaining a BBA Degree in Accounting. He continued his educational pursuit in 2000, at the Southern Bible Institute.

Rev. Marvin Ray Wright, the father of Pastor Gaylon Wright, invested his influence early in his son by teaching him the content of the Bible and admonishing him to live his life so that Christ could be seen through him and share the Gospel with others. The journey that he has traveled is reflected in 1 Samuel 1:28, “So now I give him the Lord. For his whole life, he will be given over to the Lord”

Pastor Wright has been in church all of his life. He began actively serving by his father’s side at the age of 6, at the Wyatt Street Christian Church, where his father served as Pastor. When his father’s health failed and he was not able to carry out the duties as Pastor, the family reunited at the Bonnie View Christian Church, where his father acknowledge his calling. Rev. Gaylon Wright continued to serve the Lord, while listening to the Lord say, “He who finds a Wife finds a GOOD Thing. ” He had grown up with this special lady that God had kept in his path. He recognized that Felicia Jones and now he refers to Mrs. Felicia Wright as the Love of his Life.

Pastor Wright joined New Birth Baptist Church in 1997. His father, Rev. Marvin Wright, prayed with him and ask God that he would move upon the heart of Pastor George Pryor to nurture his son as his own. Pastor George Pryor answered the prayer and made a great impact on Rev. Gaylon Wright Spiritual Growth.

Rev. Wright was ordained as a Deacon in 1999 and became a Trustee in 2010. He acknowledged his calling into ministry and preached his first sermon in 2012. He was ordained and license after his first sermon. He continued serving at New Birth as the Sunday School Teacher for the Young Adult Men Class, member of the Pastor’s Aide Committee, and song with the Men’s Chorus. Pastor Wright exercised his gift to deliver God’s Word during the Noon Day Services at both New Birth and Third Avenue Baptist Church.

Pastor Wright states, “God has truly blessed me with parents who have trained me up as a child to reverence God and serve HIM, a faithful wife of 22 years, who is committed to serving God, and three sons who have made the both of us proud. I am honored to be called as Steward and Pastor of the Third Avenue Missionary Baptist Church and I have made the commitment to God as stated in Isaiah 6:8, Here Am I Send Me. I look forward to many years of fostering this LOVE relationship with God’s People, as we work to please Him”
